Snake bracelets arrived in Egypt with the Greek kings who ruled from Alexandria, the dynasty that ended with Cleopatra VII. No jewel survives that we can say was hers, and we will not pretend otherwise. Pliny the Elder tells that she dissolved a pearl in vinegar to win a bet with Mark Antony: a good story, not a record. This bracelet follows the snake bracelets made in her Egypt, like the one at the Metropolitan Museum.
